Raised along the shores of Monterey Bay, Captain Steph developed his passion for fishing at an early age — spending countless hours exploring local beaches, wharfs, rivers, and offshore waters. From salmon and halibut to rockfish, lingcod, steelhead, and trout, his experience spans the diverse fisheries that make Monterey Bay one of the premier fishing destinations on the West Coast.
In addition to running charters, Steph serves as a full-time Fire Captain, where leadership, preparation, and public service are central to his profession. The same attention to detail, safety standards, and calm decision-making required in the fire service are carried aboard every charter.

With more than three decades of fishing experience along Monterey Bay, Captain Steph brings a lifetime of local knowledge and a commitment to excellence to every trip. A full-time Fire Captain, he carries the same attention to detail, safety, and calm decision-making aboard every charter — from salmon and halibut to rockfish, lingcod, and tuna.
Roy Segal Smith has fished Monterey Bay since 1988, when he started as a deckhand on the Pointer Clipper for Sam's Fishing Fleet. Over 35 years on the water he has worked most of Monterey's boats and captained many of them — including the Captain Randy, Top Gun, Checkmate, Pointer Clipper, Caroline, and El Pescador — as well as owning his own commercial vessel. A USCG-licensed Master Captain, he loves what he does and does his best to make sure you have a great time on whatever outing you choose.
Ryan grew up around fishing, learning from his father — a lifelong angler who builds custom rods and topwater plugs for striped bass. Hardworking and dependable, he takes pride in great customer service, helping guests with their equipment and making sure everyone has a safe, productive, and enjoyable day on the water. With experience on commercial squid and salmon boats, he brings real seamanship to every trip. When he's not on a charter, you'll find him beach fishing or chasing steelhead on the river — his favorite kind of fishing.
